Candy-Colored Mirrors

I know.  I know.  I’ve been AWOL from craft blogging for the past few months.  But just because I haven’t been blogging doesn’t mean that I haven’t been crafting.  ;)

Too many things to do.  Too little time.  The story of my life.

This project was just too fun and turned out way too cute not to share, though.  So here I am, after an extended hiatus, to give you:  DIY Candy-Colored Mirrors.

DIY Rain Barrel

Ever since I started my first garden last year I have wanted to create some sort of rain collection system.  It especially became a priority since last year saw the worst draught of the past 20 years.  Unfortunately, I watched my beautiful, healthy tomato and cucumber plants wither as spring gave way to summer with never a drop of rain in sight.  :( And treated water simply does not provide the same results as fresh, natural rain water.

Garden Beginnings: Starting Seeds in Recycled TP Rolls

The weather has been so gloriously spring-like lately that I had to take a break from all indoor activities and just get outside.  I’m actually a little bit late on getting seeds started for my garden, so I decided to pull it all together and get going.

Pinterest is full of great ideas on everything from recipes to home crafts to fashion.  I found the idea of recycling toilet paper rolls for the garden here and started saving the empty rolls just a few weeks ago.  It didn’t take long to save up enough for my needs, especially since I cut them in half and got two seed pods per tp roll.

So the big day fast approaches.  Valentine’s Day has become a huge market, pushing anything from chocolate to flowers to greeting cards to sexy lingerie.  Well, I’m not buying.  Literally.  I think it’s a bit much to expect your loved one to make some grand gesture just because the calendar says it’s February 14th.

DIY Linen Spray

It’s super easy and way cheaper to make your own linen spray than continuing to buy it.  Plus it’s fun to create your own fragrant blends according to what your needs are.  I’ve been making my own linen spray for the past year, and knowing how inexpensive and easy it is to make I would never go back to buying commercial brands!

She has been generous enough to lend us her wit here at 1CraftyLane as well as a useful tip on making our own laundry detergent.  Useful, inexpensive, and CRAFTY!🙂  I love it!

Welcome!

Welcome to my new corner of the web🙂

1 Crafty Lane is a place to imagine the impossible, create the unique and share our creativity with each other.  I’m an incurable crafter, always repurposing or creating something.  From gold leafing glass jars to sewing to screen printing to painting to…. Well, you get the idea.  And that’s not even to mention Spicehubby who is an excellent wood worker.  {I know, I’m so lucky, right?}🙂  Anyway, I wanted a little cyber home to organize and share all of my adventures, so here we are.

About a year ago I started a cooking blog, my first blog ever:  In the Land of Spice. {hence my pseudonym Spiceblogger}  ;)   It chronicles my kitchen creations–cooking and baking, successes and failures.  My journey has taught me a lot, about cooking and blogging and myself.  Sometimes I wonder why I waited so long to start!

But my first love is daydreaming up crazy ideas and turning them into reality.  Spicehubby is my greatest enabler and harshest critic.  {Ah, he’s a perfectionist, that man!}  He forces me to always improve and is there to remind me that I can do it.  :)

I hope you’ll visit often and be inspired to share your projects also.
